When is the Skills Show?

The Skills Show Australia 2018 in Sydney will be held on Saturday June 2nd, Sunday June 3rd and Monday June 4th at the ICC Sydney.

Is there any cost to attend the Skills Show?

This is a free event.

The only associated cost would be related to attendance of the Closing Ceremony of the WorldSkills Australia National Championships on the 5th June. Tickets for the Closing Ceremony can be purchased upon registration.

How do I get to the Skills Show?

The Skills Show will be held at the ICC, Darling Harbour in Sydney. Located in the heart of Darling Harbour, ICC Sydney is easily accessible by public transport, including light rail, ferry and train and is only a 10-minute walk from Central and Town Hall train stations. Secure car parking is available and conveniently located within the Darling Harbour precinct. ICC Sydney has multiple public access points with step-free access to every entertainment, exhibition and conference venue.

What are the Skills Show’s opening hours?

Saturday June 2nd: 9am – 6pm
Sunday June 3rd: 9am – 6pm
Monday June 4th: 9am – 6pm

Is my ticket valid for each day of the Skills Show?

Yes. It is a one-off registration; you are then eligible to attend each day of the Skills Show.

When do registrations close for the Skills Show?

Registrations are open up until the close of the Skills Show on the 4th June.

Schools groups are encouraged to register their groups earlier so WorldSkills Australia can coordinate travel and logistics for each group.

Is there parking close by?

ICC Sydney (14 Darling Drive, Sydney) operates two 24-hour car parking stations with a total of 826 parking spaces including 11 disabled parking bays, 25 motorcycle parking spaces, 50 bicycle racks and 20 electric car charge spaces. Flat rate of $20.00 (per entry up to 24 hours).

Where can school group charter buses park at the ICC?

WorldSkills Australia will work closely with the ICC to provide a detailed traffic management plan to teachers closer to the date of the Skills Show. School groups are required to organise their own transport to the ICC.

Is there any funding support for schools from regional areas for travel and other related expenses?

Yes, funding is available for regional schools in NSW to attend the Skills Show.

Grants to support government schools to attend the Skills Show are available from VET Programs for Secondary Schools. Email vpss@det.nsw.edu.au for more information or contact your local Senior Pathways Officer.

Is there a cloakroom at the venue?

There is no cloakroom available at the venue.

Where can I buy food from at the Skills Show?

Cafés and food and beverage outlets inside the venue can be found at the following locations: ICC Sydney Convention Centre – at ground level and level two. There are also several cafes and dining experiences in Darling Harbour, Harbourside, Cockle Bay and King Street Wharf.

Is there an ATM available at the Skills Show?

ATMs are conveniently located at the:

  • ICC Sydney: Convention Centre – beside the main café on ground level
  • Exhibition Centre – southern end of level two concourse
  • ICC Sydney Theatre – adjacent to Customer Service Desk on level two.
How do I pre-book a school tour, Skills & Thrills showcase or Smart Start Workshop?

Teachers and school administrators can book a school tour, Skills & Thrills showcase or Smart Start Workshop by registering through the school group booking.

Can I attend the National Championships Closing Ceremony?

Yes, tickets are $30 per person. Tickets are available through registration.

  • Early bird tickets (TBC)
  • General admission tickets (TBC).
Is there a cost to attend the workshops?

No. The workshops are free but you do have to indicate your interest when you register.

I registered online, however I have lost my ticket/did not receive the ticket email – what do I do?

If you have arrived at the event, go to registration desk on level 2 and speak to customer service. If you haven’t arrived yet, call 03 9249 1000 and someone will be able to assist you.

Is the Skills Show suitable for visitors with special needs?

Most elements of the Skills Show are suitable for everyone. For further information regarding certain program elements that may not be suitable, please contact the Head Office directly and we will provide you with further guidance.
