Auto Electrical Competition

Auto electricians work on extra-low voltage electrical and electronic systems to install, maintain, identify faults and repair electrical wiring and computer-based equipment in motor vehicles and related equipment. The scope of work for an automotive electrician is extremely diverse, including work on road-going cars and trucks, but also recreational vehicles, 4wd, golf carts, fork lifts, elevated work platforms, mining equipment, agricultural equipment, earthmoving and plant equipment, and also fixed battery/solar applications in remote locations. Auto electricians may work as an individual or as a member of a team in various conditions – inside, outside and on the move.

YOU SHOULD PURSUE A CAREER IN AUTO ELECTRICAL IF YOU:

Regional Competition

Training Package Requirements – Regional Level 

The 2018 WorldSkills Australia Regional Competition for Auto Electrical align to the Units of Competency (Elements of Competency and Performance Criteria) in the AUR30316 – Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology (Release 1) Qualification.

  • AURETR012 – Test and repair basic electrical circuits
  • AURETR032 – Diagnose & repair automotive electrical systems
  • AURETR029 – Diagnose and repair charging systems

  • AURETR010 – Repair wiring harness/looms
  • AURET2016 – Read and apply vehicle wiring schematics & drawings
  • AURETR023 – Diagnose and repair spark ignition engine management systems

National Competition

Training Package Requirements – National Level 

The 2018 WorldSkills Australia National Competition for Auto Electrical align to the Units of Competency (Elements of Competency and Performance Criteria) in the AUR30316 – Certificate III in Automotive Electrical Technology (Release 1) Qualification.

In addition to the Regional requirements, the National also includes:
