Five minutes with…Josh Semper

Up and coming engineer, Joshua Semper is ‘super excited’ to be heading to Nationals after a successful experience at last year’s Regionals.

Joshua is studying at Gilmore College and is also in his second year of a Certificate II in Engineering at South Metropolitan TAFE Rockingham campus. He is employed by Kwinana Industries Council in Kwinana, WA, and will compete in the VETiS Metals and Engineering competition at the Skills Show.

Coming from a family of engineers, Joshua has always been very inquisitive and describes himself as a hard worker with a kind heart. Looking to take home gold at the Skills Show in June, Joshua is confident with his progress so far as he is under the watchful guidance of lecturer Peter Longworth. As he has already been awarded the title of School based Trainee of the Year through SM TAFE, he is confident with his future endeavours, “My short-term goals would be to graduate from Gilmore College and complete the SBT, then down the road secure an apprenticeship in Mechanical Fabrication,” he says.

When asked about his long-term career goals, Joshua hopes to one day own his own business, so watch this space.
